According to a new report, Zatanna is in line to get a solo film from Warner Bros.
Zatanna, one of the leading magic users in the DC universe, may finally be making her way to the big screen. This isn’t the first time such rumors have popped up, but this time around they have some unexpected confirmation.
As the news began making the rounds on Friday, comic writer Gail Simone seemed to confirm the news with a simple “Yep.” in a tweet in response to a report. The writer later removed the tweet for unknown reasons.
Zatanna first appeared in Hawkman #4 in Nov. 1964. Her father, Zatara, is also a powerful magic user throughout the DC Universe. She has appeared in numerous animated productions, and was a recurring character in the final three seasons of Smallville where she was played by Serinda Swan.
Plans for a solo movie are a bit surprising at this juncture only because of the Justice League Dark series being planned for HBO Max. Zatana has been a key character in that property, but perhaps the two will be connected. There just isn’t enough information at this point.
According to the reports, everything is in the earliest of stages, so don’t be surprised if a lot of information changes.
