Mohammed Kudus’ price will only rise as the transfer window goes on, according to Ajax sporting director and ex-Arsenal man Sven Mislintat.

Ajax star Mohammed Kudus has increasingly been linked with a move to the Premier League in recent weeks, with Arsenal among the primary contenders for his signature.

But former Arsenal Head of Recruitment Sven Mislintat has suggested any interested parties need to move fast to get a good deal.

Now working as a Technical Director at Ajax, Mislintat spoke to the media about Kudus this week.

“There are clubs that have informally enquired about him,” Mislintat admitted. “I don’t expect an offer very soon, although you know that things can be different in the football world.

“Perhaps the interest in not as serious as everyone thinks.

“It is important for us that the relationship with the players remains good. This can be done by being transparent and applying good principles.

“As we get closer to the deadline, the transfer fee, for example, goes up.”

Kudus has been absent from training recently, though his current club have clarified that the decision was made on medical grounds.

Ajax publicly confirmed that Kudus stayed indoors to receive treatment for a minor injury.

Football insider Team News and Ticks recently wrote that dialogue between Kudus and Arsenal has been happening for a long time.

Earlier in the summer, The Athletic’s David Ornstein reported that Kudus had rejected a one-year extension to stay at Ajax beyond 2025, and he’s made the club aware of his intention to depart the club this summer.

Ajax are expected to want a £40m fee for the midfielder, but they’ve shown they’re open to doing deals when players enter the final two years of their contracts.

Kudus made 42 appearances for Ajax last season, scoring 18 goals and providing seven assists. A versatile attacker, he can play in an attacking midfield role, on the wing, or even up front.

As well as his contributions at club level, Kudus caught the eye at the World Cup, scoring two goals in three games with Ghana.

The 22-year-old has been a key figure for his national team for the last couple of years, generally starting matches whenever he’s been fit.
