Onetime hologram Will.i.am teams with AI cohost for new interactive show for real people

AI Gotta Feeling? Is this anything?

Will.i.am’s newest project is so 3008.

The Black Eyed Peas maestro — who once appeared as a hologram on CNN on the eve of Barack Obama’s election for some reason — is teaming up with an AI cohost to launch will.i.am Presents the FYI Show. A press release describes the SiriusXM program as an “interactive show” that “will bridge together the latest in AI innovation, music, pop culture and technology.” The future is now!

The digital cohost in question is named “qd.pi” — presumably pronounced “cutie pie,” though we’re open to alternative readings. Qd.pi is powered by the “My Humps” singer’s existing AI app, FYI (short for Focus Your Ideas, of course), which launched last spring. The press release also states that after each episode ends, fans “can go deeper to enjoy additional show materials via an FYI Project including multimedia, additional discussions, and also soon engage with co-host qd.pi one on one.”

Mr. I.Am explained his vision for FYI at the app’s launch: “My vision for FYI is to help creatives organize, collaborate, and communicate in one place… rather than have all their communications and digital assets spread across five different products,” he told Uproxx. “Starting there will ease how creatives collaborate, network, and strategize. Having AI baked in the core of the product will give them the ability to supercharge their creativity and their strategizing with AI and their team flow.”

Xzibit will be the show’s first special guest on its inaugural episode on Jan. 25. The following week will focus on the Grammys (which will take place Feb. 4, three days after the episode premieres) and feature an appearance by Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason.

Starting Jan. 25, will.i.am Presents the FYI Show airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT on SiriusXM’s The 10s Spot (channel 11).
