For all of the French New Wave enthusiasts out there who have long hoped for a restoration of François Truffaut’s legendary Antoine Doinel series, your time has come! Janus Films is unveiling new 4K restorations of the entire Adventures of Antoine Doinel, set to play at Film Forum from September 23—October 6.
We are proud to present the trailer for this series, courtesy of Janus Films. Watch the trailer here.
Per Film Forum’s website, “Truffaut’s The 400 Blows not only introduced the world to its precocious director—it also unveiled his indelible creation: Antoine Doinel. Closely modeled after Truffaut himself, the Doinel character, played by the incomparable Jean-Pierre Léaud, reappeared in four subsequent films over the next 20 years that knowingly portrayed his myriad frustrations and romantic entanglements from his stormy teens through marriage, children, divorce, and adulthood.”
Along with The 400 Blows, the series also includes Antoine and Colette, Stolen Kisses, Bed and Board and Love on the Run.
