My One Word for 2021

I am a Word woman. I love God’s written Word, the Bible, and I love His spoken word to me personally or through other prophetic voices. In December, I asked Abba, “Do You have one word for me for 2021?”

“Faithful,” is what I heard. “Faithful? Are You sure, LORD? Of all the attributes I’ve declared about You, faithfulness has been in the top three for years. Why are You giving me, ‘faithful?’

SILENCE.

Okay, I thought, let’s approach this another way. “Abba, if I’ve heard wrong and this isn’t Your word but it’s coming out of my own head, give me Your word, please.”

SILENCE

This was in mid-December and He never gave me another word.

So, I entered 2021, with my one word–‘FAITHFUL,’ anxious to see why it was being highlighted.

I am pretty sure you’ve noticed that the first three weeks of this upside down year, have been anything but normal, calm, or predictable. If ever we’ve needed to know God is faithful, it is now. One scripture that I’ve returned to many times in my life is:

Numbers 23:19God is not a man, that He should lie,
Nor a son of man, that He should repent.
Has He said, and will He not do?
Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?

Again, if you are a son or daughter of God and you have relationship with Him, you have words He’s spoken to you that have not materialized yet. You have heard words about yourself, your family, your church, your city, or your nation that you may be questioning right now, given the chaos that surrounds and threatens us. But, I am here to tell you I believe God is up to something beyond our wildest dreams. He’s about to show us in living color who He is and how Faithful He is.

At the same time, I believe our faith is going to be tested as never before to see if we will believe Him regardless of what it looks like. With this in mind, I’ve collected a treasure chest of scriptures for us to meditate on. To meditate means to say or mutter something out loud over and over until they get written in our memory.

This is my list. There is a lot here, but I want you to be ready for the battle. You can copy and print all the scriptures, or ask Holy Spirit for specific ones you need to focus on and print those. Along with spending more time in God’s presence, praying as a believing son or daughter of the King, listening to His instructions and acting on them in immediate obedience, pull out these scriptures to war with any doubt, threat, or fear.

Scriptures for Meditation — Ammunition for Battle

Deuteronomy 7:9  “Therefore know that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments;

Psalm 33:4 For the Word of the Lord is upright, And all His work is done in faithfulness.

Psalm 36:5 Your mercy, O Lord, is in the heavens; Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds.

Psalm 37:3-4 Trust in the Lord, and do good;
Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness.
Delight yourself also in the Lord,
And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Psalm 89:8  O Lord God of hosts, Who is mighty like You, O Lord? Your faithfulness also surrounds You.

Psalm 91:4 He will cover you with His pinions, And under His wings you may seek refuge; His faithfulness is a shield and bulwark.

Isaiah 25:1  O Lord, You are my God. I will exalt You, I will praise Your name, For You have done wonderful things; Your counsels of old are faithfulness and truth.

Lamentations 3:22-24 Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness. “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “Therefore I hope in Him!”

2 Thessalonians 3:3 The Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one.

Hebrews 10:23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.

2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is long-suffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

Revelation 19:11 Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war.

God’s Faithfulness Exhibited

Here are just a few:

Joshua 21:45 Not a word failed of any good thing which the Lord had spoken to the house of Israel. All came to pass.

Joshua 23:14 “Behold, this day I am going the way of all the earth. And you know in all your hearts and in all your souls that not one thing has failed of all the good things which the Lord your God spoke concerning you. All have come to pass for you; not one word of them has failed.

2 Samuel 22:31 As for God, His way is perfect; The word of the Lord is proven; He is a shield to all who trust in Him.

1 Kings 8:23-24 “Lord God of Israel, there is no God in heaven above or on earth below like You, who keep Your covenant and mercy with Your servants who walk before You with all their hearts. You have kept what You promised Your servant David my father; You have both spoken with Your mouth and fulfilled it with Your hand, as it is this day.

Romans 4:20-22 (This is said about Abraham who was promised descendants as numerous as the stars of the heavens when he was 90 years old and unable to father children.) “He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform.  And therefore “it was accounted to him for righteousness.”

Things to Remember as You Pray

2 Timothy 2:13 If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself.

1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is long-suffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

Isaiah 44:6 “Thus says the Lord, the King of Israel, And his Redeemer, the Lord of hosts: ‘I am the First and I am the Last; Besides Me there is no God.

And here is a closing scripture to keep in mind:

1 John 5:14-15 Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.  And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.

God’s Word is sharper than a two-edged sword. In the final battle, Jesus does not carry a sword but He wars with the words of His mouth. Revelation 19: 15a Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations.

If you want to know about the sword, you can find it here.

Take these scriptures to heart and speak them out loud.

As we put on the Armor of God, choose to fully surrender and submit to His instructions, He will be with us to fulfill all that He has promised. And when all is said and done, we will be able to cast our crowns at His feet in praise, knowing it was His faithfulness that saw us through. Our God is FAITHFUL.

Shalom ♥

  1. What wonderful Words from God! They went right to the heart of the matter we are all walking in! And they went right to my heart. Jesus’ strength is all I need to walk in this dark time humanity is suffering through. Jesus alone will do it, will carry us through.
