Speaking to The Sunday Times over the weekend, Gallagher — who is nominated for this year's class with his Oasis bandmates — expressed contempt for artists who haven't recorded songs in the rock genre. “As much as I love Mariah Carey and all that, I want to say: do me a favor and f— off,” Gallagher, 51, told the outlet. He continued, "It’s like putting me in the rap hall of fame, and I don’t want to be part of anything that mentally disturbed. Besides, I’ve done more for rock n’ roll than half of them clowns on that board. So it’s all a load of bollocks." Cher, Mariah Carey and Mary J. The nominees were announced earlier this month. Ten of the 15 nominees are appearing on the ballot for the first time, including Carey, Cher, Kravitz, Osbourne, Sade and the late O’Connor. Thirteen artists made last year’s class of inductees into the Hall of Fame — among them, George Michael posthumously, Chaka Khan, Missy Elliott, Kate Bush and Sheryl Crow. Last year for example, Dolly Parton tried opting out of her induction, saying that she hadn't "earned that right." Parton was still inducted — and the move inspired her to release a rock album of her own called Rockstar. Meanwhile, Gallagher is set to hit the road for a small string of shows in the summer where he'll perform Oasis' former band’s debut LP, Definitely Maybe. "I'm bouncing around the house to announce the Definitely Maybe Tour. The most important album of the ‘90s bar none. I wouldn't be anywhere without it and neither would you, so let’s celebrate together LG x," he wrote alongside a tour poster in October. The tour is set to launch June 2 in Sheffield and will run through June 27, where it concludes in Manchester.
