People Editorial Guidelines Updated on December 19, 2019 05:31AM EST Stella McCartney has grown her namesake fashion label into a well-established brand — and she has the major A-list celeb clientele to prove it! That why it’s only fitting that she’s celebrating the 15 year anniversary by reflecting on the “crazy famous people” she surrounds herself with. Bjorn Looss/PORTER magazine In an editorial for Porter magazine, the designer was photographed with her most loyal fan base, including Selma Blair, Nicole Richie and Jennifer Meyer and with fellow Beatles family members (reminder: her dad is Sir Paul McCartney): Barbara Bach Starkey, wife of Ringo Starr and Olivia Harrison, wife of George Harrison. But that’s just her version of “normal.” “People always want to ask me about my famous friends, and I’m always like: ‘Yeah, I’ve got a lot of famous friends,’ but I grew up around that and I’m not kind of… you know, yeah, it’s great, like there’s a greatness to it, but I’m also a bit like, I’ve also got a really great bunch of girls that are godmothers and they are not famous,” McCartney explains. Bjorn Looss/PORTER magazine She adds that her childhood had a similar balance, consisting of rock ‘n roll and country living. “I lived on a farm, but I went on tour and I knew crazy famous people, like crazy. And for my children, it’s not dissimilar, they go to the farm and they’re in the field getting muddy and falling over, and then they come here and they’re surrounded by crazy famous people. I worry about that. But I think I turned out okay-ish, and I hope that they will be okay.” RELATED VIDEO: Paul McCartney Gets Turned Down at Tyga’s Grammy After-Party and Social Media Explodes! As for her famous dad, he’s busy being a rad “GrandDude” to her four children. “I love seeing them with grandpa, or GrandDude, as they call him, they’re really proud of him and they get excited by it [Sir Paul McCartney’s music]… They have a great relationship with him.” So what are a few key pieces to her success? Number one is to achieve longevity. “My grandpa Lee always used to say to me ‘staying power’ — that was his thing. He was a very impressive man, amazing man… I was like, if I can have staying power, that’s a real achievement.” RELATED PHOTOS: The Most Insane Things You Can Buy From Kanye, Gwyneth & More Celeb Designers Also, never cry at the office. “I’ve probably cried at work, but I’m limited with my crying; I’m the boss, I’m not really allowed to cry at work.” Catch the full interview with McCartney in the latest issue of Porter, on sale globally on Friday, June 3 and available as a digital edition here.
