William Levy is a huge star in the Spanish-speaking world, but until he shows off his moves on Dancing with the Stars, many U.S. viewers may not know the Cuban-born hunk by name.

The heartthrob, 31, known as the “Latin Brad Pitt,” has shared steamy moments with Jennifer Lopez and was featured on the cover of PEOPLE En Español in 2011.

Here’s everything you need to know about one of this season’s new ballroom contenders:

1. He’s been linked to Lopez
Levy was the chiseled mystery man who had the privilege of cozying up to Lopez in her 2011 music video for “I’m Into You.” The pair’s chemistry in the video was so visible that it sparked rumors that Levy was the reason behind Lopez’s split from Marc Anthony. Levy debunked the reports, telling ET, “It was work, we had a great time together and that was it,” adding that he wouldn’t want to break up a family. Lopez quickly moved on with Casper Smart.

2. He’s single! – but a family man
Single and sexy is never a good combination on DWTS. Levy, who split from Elizabeth Gutierrez in March 2010, could be a likely candidate for a ballroom romance (or rumor) to blossom. He and his ex have two children together: Christopher Alexander and Kailey Alexandra.

3. He was involved in a highly-publicized sex scandal
In August 2010, a woman accused Levy of sexual battery, saying she was 17 when they had relations. The woman allegedly blackmailed Levy for $950,000 to keep quiet. He counter-sued for infliction of emotional distress and defamation, saying the woman told him she was 19. The case was settled privately in July 2011.

4. He’s part Jewish

Explaining the origin of his name during an interview with ET in 2011, he says, “Levy is because that’s my mom’s last name. And my grandfather, he was Jewish. So that’s where it comes from. It’s a Jewish last name. I have some Jewish in my family.”

5. He’s from Cuba, but he emigrated to Florida
Born in Cojimar, Cuba, Levy emigrated to Miami when he was 14. Later, he ended up getting an American gig with Next Models and was also cast in two Spanish reality shows on Telemundo.
