Snoop Dogg is going to be the subject of a new movie from director Allen Hughes and screenwriter Joe Robert Cole, as The Hollywood Reporter notes. The biopic will feature music from the Long Beach rapper’s catalog. The film will come from Universal Pictures, which handled the N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton; Snoop Dogg was portrayed by Lakeith Stanfield in the 2015 film.

Snoop Dogg has released several projects this year, including BODR, Metaverse: The NFT Drop, Vol. 1, Snoop Dogg Presents Death Row Summer 2022, Metaverse: The NFT Drop, Vol. 2, and Gangsta Grillz: I Still Got It. Coming up, on December 9, he and his Mount Westmore bandmates (Ice Cube, E-40, and Too $hort) will release a new album called Snoop, Cube, 40, $hort.

Back in February, Snoop Dogg performed with Dr. Dre and others during the Super Bowl LVI halftime show in Inglewood, California. Days before the performance, Snoop Dogg was sued by a woman who alleged that the rapper sexually assaulted her in 2013. The woman withdrew her lawsuit in April before refiling the complaint in July. Snoop Dogg and his attorneys recently requested the new lawsuit’s dismissal.
