2 Facts  The Challenger was launched on January 28 th 1986  There was 7 people on the mission, Mike Smith, Ron McNair, Ellison Onizuka, Christa McAuliffe, Gregory Jarvis and Dick Scobee.  The Challenger blew up 73.62 seconds after lift off.

3 More Facts…  The Challenger had been into space 9 times before the accident.  3 of the crew members were on the Challenger on one of it’s earlier flights.  The Challenger was delayed 3 times before take off.  In 1986 there was a total of 15 flights that were planned.

4 Christa McAuliffe  Sharon Christa Corrigan.  She was born on September the 2 nd 1948 in Boston.  She was American.  She was a teacher in Benjamin Foulois Junior High School.

8 Even more facts….  The major reason for the accident was a Rubber O-ring.  It was launched from Pad 39-B Which was originally designed to support the Apollo program.  She wanted to go to the moon to so she can teach her students about it and to teach everyone to be brave.

9 The first space shuttle in Space  Space Shuttle Enterprise was the first space shuttle to go into space.  It was damaged by Hurricane Sandy after the storm passed over New York City on 29 th of October.  Space shuttle is seen after Hurricane Sandy at the Intrepid Sea.
