The Capitol Theatre said in a news release that tickets for the show are on sale at the box office for $46 for members and $49 for the general public.  Thanks to Atlantic Lottery’s Arts Access Program, persons aged 19 to 35 can purchase tickets at a 50 per cent discount. The concert is part of the Capitol Theaatre’s 2023-2024 programming season, sponsored by Louisbourg Investments. It is the only show by the Lanios Trio in Atlantic Canada and will precede a series of concerts in Quebec.

Lanois is originally from Hull, Que., and started his musical career at age 17, and moved to Hamilton, where he worked with bands like Martha and the Muffins and the Spoons. His sister Jocelyn was a member of Martha and the Muffins and later Crash Vegas. He worked with British music producer Brian Eno on several albums by U2, including The Joshua Tree, which won the 1987 Grammy Award for Album of the Year with hit songs “With or Without You” and “Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For.”

Lanois has also produced albums for such artists as Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Peter Gabriel, Emmylou Harris and many more.

The news release states that the trio began in a small chapel on the outskirts of Berlin, where Lanois played guitar and sang with two buddies – Jermaine Holmes on drums and Jim Wilson on bass – began working on three-part harmonies.

“Their three voices blend and echo. The acoustics of the chapel are such that the voices are too beautiful. So, the instruments go silent. They let the voices fill the night,” the release said. “The more Lanois travels, the more he feels that mediums merge into one another; the record, the radio, the internet, TV, festivals, life itself and, of course, singing.”

The Moncton show on April 7 will be the first performance in a month-long tour that will continue to venues in Quebec City, Gatineau, Sainte-Therese, Jonquiere, Sherbrooke and Joliette.
