Zhang Ziyi Named Global Brand Ambassador for Clé de Peau Beauté

The Chinese actress will follow Amanda Seyfried and Felicity Jones in the role.

TOKYO Shiseido has named Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi  as the latest global brand ambassador for its Clé de Peau Beauté line of luxury skin care and makeup. The actress follows in the footsteps of Amanda Seyfried and Felicity Jones.

A celebrated actress both at home and abroad, Ziyi has appeared in more than 20 films, including “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon,” “House of Flying Daggers,” and “Memoirs of a Geisha.” Her performance in “The Grandmaster” in 2013 earned her 12 best actress awards, making her the most awarded actress for a single film.

Ziyi’s first Clé de Peau Beauté campaign will premiere this fall, highlighting the brand’s keystone product, La Crème. The actress will not only appear in the spot, she’ll narrate it, too.

Shiseido called the campaign “expressive, lyrical and full of light,” and said the company had long admired Ziyi“Her beauty, warmth and generosity bring radiance to the world around her. Zhang Ziyi perfectly embodies the values of Clé de Peau Beauté because of her spirit and timeless elegance,” said Yukari Suzuki, chief brand officer of Clé de Peau Beauté.

Jenny Sun, brand director of Clé de Peau Beauté China, said the collaboration would “elevate the awareness and aspirational status of Clé de Peau Beauté in the China market,” and help to establish further the quality and luxury of Clé de Peau Beauté and La Crème.

The announcement of Ziyi’s appointment comes after Shiseido named Russian figure skater and Olympic gold medalist Alina Zagitova as the global brand ambassador for its eponymous brand earlier this summer.
