It's all happening! Kate Hudson is back to her signature bright blonde hair just in time for summer.

The actor, who was previously rocking a more lived-in rooty blonde balayage look, appears to have been spending some time in the salon as of late, as evidenced by new pics of the star out and about in London. The ashy roots haven't completely gone away, but the overall look is significantly brighter than in previous months. In place of that smudged root is a warm honey gold tone that feels like pure sunshine. Hudson's hair still has the laid-back beachy vibe she's known for, with lighter, brighter blonde at the mid-lengths and ends for a grown-out, spent-the-day-at-the-beach effect and the mingling of blonde tones feels so natural and organic to the star. For her night out in across the pond, Hudson wore minimal makeup, just fresh skin and a touch of mascara. It's giving Penny Lane growing up, ditching the bands and moving to Venice Beach to open a boutique.

At first, the new blonde may not look like that much of a change for Hudson, but look at this photo from mid-May to see just how much has changed. For what appears to be a glam evening on the town, Hudson wore her hair in a wet-look slicked back twisted ponytail and thankfully gave us a full 360-degree view of the style and her hair color. The rooty blonde was also center stage at the Vanity Fair Oscars afterparty, with the star wearing her hair in a loose, middle-parted updo.

While Hudson looks gorgeous in any shade, blonde is central to Hudson's DNA — and that of her mom, Goldie Hawn. She may mix it up with different tones and color placements, but Hudson rarely strays from that California girl hue, and for good reason. Wait ... do I need highlights now?
