Fun Game, but not as fun as watching the Anime

Fun Game, but not as fun as watching the Anime
It's a fun game, but will probably get boring and tedious the more I play it. Plus it's just not the same without Steve Blum. I'll just stick to watching the anime.

I had this game once before and I sold it before really enjoying. Now I can

The product came nicely packaged and promptly, but the game itself is rather a repetitive grind-fest (and I usually love those). I was sad that the role of music wasn't played up as much as the advertising and some reviews implied.

I never really managed to get into Samurai Champloo the series, though I have heard very good things about it, but I did pick this game up as I am a fan of the whole samurai genre for games and movies in general and it looked pretty good. I'm not sure how closely the game follows the show (I'm guessing it's just a side story, hence 'sidetracked', that fits into the main series kinda like the Cowboy Bebop movie fits into the main series) but just taken on it's own, it's very unique. The game plays almost like a mix of a standard third person hack n slash and a rhythm based music game. You'll go from cutting through dudes with standard combo slices one minute to doing it to the beat of the music the next. The screen positioning can be a little wonky and it can be a little tough to figure out the beat mechanics, so it's definitely not a gmae everyone will enjoy, but it is pretty cool.

I have seen some very strange graphics glitches over my many years of game play and graphics design. I don't think I've ever seen hips ROLL so much before in my life. I swear it looks like the characters are trying to carry fish bowls between their calves or something. It's strange to look at and even funnier when you see Jin walking that way. I don't really care for this game, though I love Samurai Champloo. Being one of those people who doesn't trade or sell their games, I'll inevitably play it later on. The music is good, the story good, the load times really stink, and there are many of them, and the characters walk like pregnant hippos. It's worth the rental first to see how you like it, but buying, well...
