It's time to clear the air, according to legendary record producer and executive Jermaine Dupri on what really happened after Atlanta rapper, Latto won her season of the Lifetime reality-competition series, The Rap Game.

The first season of The Rap Game followed five artists competing for the opportunity to sign with Dupri's label– So So Def and while Latto was the winner, she ended up turning down the offer to sign because she felt like she wasn't being offered enough money, she explained in an interview with Vlad TV back in 2016.

Since then, Dupri has received backlash for ultimately "dropping the ball" on Latto, but now he's here to assure everyone that that wasn't the case.

"People always saying 'Jermaine you dropped the ball on Mulatto or Latto' and what I don't think people understand is, I put Latto's record out. The deal was, if you win on 'The Rap Game,' you get a single from Jermaine Dupri on So So Def– that single came out, the problem was is that Latto was 16 years old and the outlets didn't support it and then nobody was like speaking on it," he explained.

It wasn't until Latto was older that she started to garner the attention of media outlets that she deserved. Dupri continued, "so people didn't start talking about Latto until she started making more vulgar records, dressing more sexual, being an adult," so it made him feel like "damn are these kids not accepted?"

He continues and explains that he believes he's going through the same situation with one of his newest artists, Young Dylan, a 13-year-old rapper and actor who he believes isn't getting the attention he deserves because of his age.
