After a 15-year wait, Mexican pop sensation RBD's return to the stage did not disappoint Arizona fans on Tuesday night.

On their first of two nights at Desert Diamond Arena, Anahí, Dulce María, Maite Perroni, Christian Chávez and Christopher von Uckermann — five of the original six group members — performed their major hits for over two hours, allowing millennials in the crowd to reminisce on their Rebelde-filled child and teenage years.

RBD became a worldwide sensation following the success of the Mexican teenage soap opera, Rebelde — meaning rebel — which was on air from 2004 to 2006. The group's last performance was in Spain in 2008.

On Aug. 25, the group kicked off their 54-date Soy Rebelde tour.

On Wednesday, RBD takes the Glendale stage once more before setting out for Las Vegas.

'We were waiting 15 years'

Every inch of the arena was filled with fans dressed in the iconic red and white Rebelde school uniform, as well as Anahí's traditional pink hat and cowgirl boots look.

When Anahí, Dulce María, Maite, Christian and Christopher soared onto the stage aboard a moving platform belting out their emblematic hit, “Tras de mí," the crowd erupted.

“We were waiting 15 years,” Anahí called out.

Dulce María, whose return to the stage came after their first reunion in 2021, thanked the crowd, saying "Thank you to each one of you for waiting for us, for keeping us in your hearts, because today is a reality, it is no longer a dream and today we are here … ¡Arriba Arizona!"

Members of RBD perform at Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale on Sept. 12, 2023.

The night was filled with healing, self-accepting and love-filled messages — especially for the women and LGBTQ+ folks in the crowd — as the group alternated from solos and duets to all-female and all-member performances.

The most memorable solos were carried out by Christopher and Dulce María.

Sitting on a golden throne and dressed in a long blue cape and a large crown, Christopher sang his hit “Quisiera Ser," which means "I wish I could be," and offered a strong message of support, getting emotional as he shared how beautiful it was "to be completely me."

"It's beautiful to be able to be me, to be able to show myself how I want to show myself … That, I think, is the best message I can give you. Be yourselves, love yourselves, respect yourselves, wear what you want to wear, as long as you respect others,” he said.

Dulce María emerged on stage sitting in a circle with the neon pink symbol of love and peace singing "No pares," a motivational song encouraging women to keep fighting, keep moving.

"All the love you give me feeds my heart and soul … You never know what's happening behind closed doors, what's behind this. We all have different battles, different challenges, different trying moments," she said. "And then I get here and I feel this love … Thank you, Phoenix, Arizona."

RBD closed out the night with their most emblematic piece, "Rebelde," dressed in the unforgettable school uniforms that popularized them in 2004.
