U.K.-based duo Goldfrapp will quickly follow up its 2008 album “Seventh Tree” with “Head First,” due March 23 in the United States from Mute and a day earlier internationally.
A track list has yet to be announced, but the dancefloor-friendly first single, “Rocket,” will be released March 9. Goldfrapp will tour in support of the album next year, with dates pending.
A surprising detour away from synth-based pop into acoustic-driven folk and ballads, “Seventh Tree” reached a career-best No. 48 on The Billboard 200 and has sold 59,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
Beyond “Head First,” group members Alison Goldfrapp and Will Gregory penned the score for the film “Nowhere Boy,” the story of John Lennon as a youth. The film opened in late October at the London Film Festival, but as yet there is no North American release date set. The pair have also reportedly worked with Christina Aguilera on tracks for her next album.
