Will.i.am, the Black Eyed Peas member-turned-solo-star and a judge on the U.K. version of singing talent show “The Voice,” will be the subject of a behind-the-scenes TV documentary special about his upcoming debut solo world tour.
Shine International, part of Elisabeth Murdoch’s Shine Group, has boarded the project, taking global distribution duties.
“On The Road With will.i.am” promises unprecedented access to the music star as he prepares for the tour.

Documenting will.i.am’s daily life on tour, the one-hour special will feature first-person accounts, guest interviews, access to his life in Los Angeles and performances. The documentary will also include “point of view” filming, capturing some of the most intense moments of the tour.
Currently in production, “On the Road With will.i.am” will be sold at NATPE in January. It is executive produced by French banner Update Productions’ CEO Alex Fighter, whose previous documentary, Gaga By Gaultier, sold to over 40 countries in 2011. Will.i.am and Eileen Bastianelli are also executive producing the project.

Fighter described will.i.am as “one of the most multi-faceted artists of his generation.”
Said Fighter: “This documentary will provide real insight into this modern-day renaissance man, revealing what drives one of the world’s most recognized artists, allowing viewers a unique perspective on the man behind the music.”

Update Productions, a boutique French independent specializing in music, fashion, entertainment and sports programming, also co-produces numerous TV shows for French networks.
Shine International is responsible for the distribution of over 3,700 hours of TV content annually on behalf of Shine Group and third-party producers and handles global rights to both non-scripted and scripted formats.
