UMPG to Administer Publishing for Univision Network’s Music Catalog

The deal includes original recordings made for Univision's catalog of original scripted and unscripted programs.

Universal Music Publishing has signed an exclusive global publishing administration agreement to represent the Univision network’s music catalog.

The deal includes original recordings made for Univision’s vast catalog of original scripted and unscripted programs, including telenovelas, drama series, variety shows, news programming, sports and imported Spanish-language feature films.

Ignacio Meyer, executive vp of music and non-scripted entertainment, TelevisaUnivision said in a statement, “Universal Music Publishing Group has been an extraordinary partner for our shows and we are pleased to now work with them on the administration of our proud and growing music catalog of award-winning copyrights.”

“Univision is home to a vast catalog of the most iconic themes and songs across the U.S. and Latin America,” added Alexandra Lioutikoff, president of UMPG for Latin America and U.S. Latin. “We look forward to building on their legacy.”

The deal with Univision is just the latest in a string of noteworthy Latin deals recently for UMPG. The Univision catalog will be joining other recent signees, like the estate of Mexican icon Juan Gabriel, singer-songwriter Horacio Palencia and Feid, all of whom just signed global publishing deals with the company. UMPG also acts as the longtime publishing home of Latin stars like J Balvin, Bad Bunny, Anitta, Gloria Estefan and Sebastián Yatra.

On its end, Univision’s writers and publishers have won many awards for their music, including more than 20 ASCAP Awards in the television category.
