Germany’s Digitalism may be headlining a rave-inducing electro tour called “HARD,” but the duo insist they’re not just cranking out teeth-clenchers for the hardcore-and-glowstick set.

They’re also trying to please casual fans looking for something a bit more melodic.

“There’s so much really hard electronic music out there right now, and sometimes the ladies are being left out,” said Jens “Jence” Moelle, one-half of the electro house pair. “It’s gotten really aggressive. But we wanted to bring back more friendship, bring the ladies back, and take it one gear down.”

Moelle, with his partner in digital dealings Ismail “Isi” Tufekci, deliver some serious melody on their sophomore release “I Love You Dude.” But the pair, who headline the HARD summer tour at the Paradise on Tuesday with Designer Drugs, Switch and Destructo, haven’t completely abandoned their warehouse roof-raising blast beats.

“The sound has gotten more extreme,” Moelle said in a recent telephone interview. “The songs are faster and some are slower. The melodic songs are more melodic and the harder songs are harder. We’re pretty bipolar, song-wise.”

The two met in a Hamburg record store and began DJing parties and clubs together. Their 2007 debut, “Idealism,” hit No. 5 on Billboard’s electronic music chart, and several of the songs, including the infectious “Idealistic” and “Zdarlight,” landed in commercials.

They toured the world for the album, which was released on dance music powerhouse Astralwerks, and grew together as a band on the road.

“We made the first album as producers,” Moelle said. “The second one feels more like it was written by a band because of our experiences on the road.”

The bubbling “I Love You Dude” highlights their growth as songwriters and musical comrades and is a testament to their German electronic music roots.

“Maybe we are all kind of nuts in Germany,” he said. “Instead of indie or garage rock, people here tend to experiment with synthesizers. It’s a bit geeky. But it’s cool.”
