Naomi Campbell has insisted her daughter was not adopted while revealing her face for the first time in a new interview with British Vogue.

The supermodel, 51, stunned fans by announcing the birth of her daughter in May, just weeks after appearing on the New York Fashion Week runway without a visible baby bump.

But she says the nine-month old child - whose biological father has never been named - is hers amid growing speculation regarding its biological parentage.

Speaking to the latest edition of British Vogue while posing with her daughter for an exclusive cover shoot, the model confirmed: 'She wasn’t adopted – she’s my child.'

Naomi played coy during the new interview, and despite confirming her daughter is not adopted, refused to elaborate further on her first born.

However she admitted that very few of her wide circle of friends and family members knew she was planning on becoming a parent.

She explained: 'I can count on one hand the number of people who knew that I was having her. But she is the biggest blessing I could ever imagine. It’s the best thing I’ve ever done.'

Naomi  also revealed that the biggest surprise she's had from motherhood is putting someone else first, admitting it was a shock to be so 'completely selfless.'

While Naomi may have found motherhood has softened her, it seems her diva behaviour hasn't completely disappeared, with the publication noting that the model was 34 days for the interview - which was originally scheduled to take place last year.

Yet this could be as the model's schedule hasn't slowed down, with Naomi spending time in the south of France, Qatar, London, Los Angeles and Paris in just the past two months.

Thankfully, Naomi said her little one doesn't mind flying, noting:  'I'm lucky my little one loves to travel like me – no whimpering taking off or landing. She's a good girl: she sleeps very well, she hardly ever cries and I'm told she's very alert for her age.

'She's just started waving, which is fun. She laughs a lot. She's almost talking. I think she might walk before she crawls. And she's got six teeth already.'

She added that her daughter 'is the biggest blessing I could ever imagine. It's the best thing I've ever done.'

She continued:  'I always knew that one day I would be a mother, but it's the biggest joy I could ever imagine. I'm lucky to have her and I know that.'

Naomi - who praised her nanny as an 'amazing daughter', went on to admit that she feels like a child again seeing the world through her daughter's eyes.

And while she keeps her daughter mainly out of the spotlight, she revealed her little one is one of the best dressed babies in the business owing to all the designer gear she has been sent from her fashion world friends.

Elsewhere in her interview, Naomi insisted she still loves modelling, however admitted the older she gets, the more 'nerve-wracking' it becomes.

'I still enjoy it but it's nerve-racking!' the mother-of-one explained.

'Because I'm 51 years old walking with girls who are 18! It's great to be with these young 'uns at my age, but I have to say, at one of the shows I was like, ''Come on, girls! Pick up your feet! Why are you walking so slow?'''

She added: 'I definitely feel like my time was more joyful. We smiled! We got to show off our personalities.'

Of becoming a 'mother figure to a younger generation of Black models', Naomi said: 'There were lots of times when I would walk in the fashion shows, but I was never picked for the ad campaigns and it would hurt – it really hurt.

'I would have to suck it up and keep moving. Of course, it would have been great to have had that support around me back then, but I'm proud to see it happen now, I'm proud to see the diversity now.'

Looking typically chic, Naomi sported an oversized white shirt with loose-fitting black bottoms with a thick green stripe extending the length of the leg as she walked through the streets in style while pushing her daughter's pram.

HOW DID NAOMI BECOME A MOTHER AT 50 YEARS OLD?

Naomi has not revealed the method in which she welcomed her daughter but has previously spoken about her many options for starting a family

SURROGACY

Some mature mothers choose to have a baby via surrogacy, when someone has a baby for a couple who cannot have a child themselves.

Straight surrogacy uses the surrogates own eggs to conceive and can take place at home using artificial insemination, using an insemination kit or via a clinic using IUI or IVF with the surrogate acting a known egg donor.

Surrogacy is legal in the UK, but it's illegal to advertise for surrogates. No financial benefit other than reasonable expenses can be paid to the surrogate.

Naomi previously hinted at looking into surrogacy when she said: 'I think about having children all the time. But now with the way science is I think I can do it when I want.'

 PREGNANCY

More mothers are waiting until later in life to have children, but pregnancy after 50 is still quite rare.

A woman's fertility begins to decline in her early 30s. After age 35, her number of viable eggs starts to fall more quickly.

However celebrities have made headlines for having kids in their later years, including Janet Jackson who had her son, Eissa Al Mana, at age 50.

Naomi said she wanted to welcome a child with a partner, stating: 'I do want a father figure. I think it's important. It's the way I feel today, sitting here talking to you'

She also hinted at wanting a traditional family set up when she announced: 'I want the same things as every other woman: the house, the kids, the lot'

In another interview she said: 'I’d love to have kids. I don’t discount anything in life. I love kids and always will.'

Naomi's baby announcement came after she admitted that she would 'think about having children all the time' but wasn't planning to rush herself to start a family.

Speaking to ES Magazine back in 2017, she said: 'I think about having children all the time. But now with the way science is I think I can do it when I want.'

Asked if she would have the child herself rather than adopt, she replied: 'Maybe. Maybe... Maybe.'
