In 2021 the rocker revealed he had secretly battled cancer for the second time during lockdown, admitting he was  diagnosed with small cell cancer but had since 'come through with the all-clear'.

It is the second time Ronnie has beaten cancer. In 2017, Ronnie successfully fought lung cancer after 54 years of smoking 25 to 30 cigarettes a day.

After having part of his lung removed he confirmed he was cancer free in 2018.

The rocker admitted in the new interview that his young family have given him a new lease of life.

He became a father again five years ago when his theatre producer wife Sally, 43 gave birth to their twin girls Gracie Jane and Alice Rose and gushed that family is 'everything'.

'Life has given me the opportunity to raise girls again at this age. My older children have grown up, now two babies run around the house again. Alice and Gracie and her mother are a blessing.'

'I like to always have them close. And they come with me everywhere. They are globetrotters... Remember that we are a gypsy family!' he adds, alluding to his own Romany gypsy roots.

Asked by the magazine if he feels 'reborn', Ronnie replied: 'Without a doubt. I have a new private life, recovered health, new inspirations... And now I need that energy more than anything. After all, we are facing the last tour!'

When asked what he means by 'the last tour,' Ronnie is quick to clarify:

'Well, all the tours are the last one. You never know what will happen next. All tours are a mystery. But there is no doubt that this one is especially so.'

With the tour starting on his 75th birthday, Ronnie is adamant that he doesn't feel his age, telling the magazine:

'We are really obsessed with age, with youth. But it is just a number. I really feel like I'm 29 years old.'

The European tour is the first time the Stones will play in Europe following the death last year of their drummer Charlie Watts.

'We were lucky enough to have his blessing to start rehearsals without him, with Steve Jordan, and we did it with a very strange feeling,' Ronnie explained.

'What was going to happen when Charlie was gone? But despite the uncertainty and sadness we keep going, with all the energy in the world.'

'It is what he would have wanted, the Rolling do not stop. And oddly enough, even if it's almost magic, I can tell you that the band now has an extra boost. It's Charlie's energy... Charlie lives.'
