What Haas happened to you? Former child actor Lukas is unrecognisable as he steps out sporting scruffy grey beard
He rose to fame in the 1980s when, as a precocious boy of eight, he starred alongside such Hollywood heavyweights as Harrison Ford and Danny Glover in the movie Witness.
And while he had retained his fresh-faced and youthful looks for most of the 30 years since, Lukas Haas was unrecognisable as he stepped out sporting a full, greying beard at the end of last week.
The 38-year-old actor added to his hirsute new look with long, straggly locks peeping from beneath his brown trilby-style hat, as he shopped at American Apparel in Venice, California.

Joined by a female companion, the close friend of Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire donned a light grey sweater, black jeans and brown boots as he puffed on a cigarette.
However, it seems that fans of the actor need not be alarmed about his new look, as he's only expected to be sporting it for a short amount of time.
A source has told Us Weekly that Lukas' new look for a movie role alongside his pal Leondardo.

'They both had to grow beards for the movie,' explained the insider, who added: 'They were actually having a bit of a "beard-off" but they grow pretty similar beards. Lukas has got a bit of an edge on him.'
Indeed, Hollywood actor Leondaro has been spotted sporting quite a significant mound of facial hair in recent weeks - particularly when the actors were seen enjoying a New Year's trip to St Barts.
Lukas, who counts Natalie Portman among those he's been previously romantically linked to, was spotted enjoying beach time with his pal and a bevy of statuesque beauties.

With his bushy beard on full display, the Jobs star was seen in a blue T-shirt with navy shorts as he strolled the beach with a camera in hand to document the festivities.
The actors and their bikini-clad companions relaxed on golden shores of the sun-kissed French Caribbean island before making their way to a boat.
They later enjoyed a beach party, complete with a selection of food and refershing cold beverages.
