Chris Brown Has Now Charted 100 Songs On The Hot 100

This article is more than 3 years old.

Drake dominates the Hot 100 this week with 15 currently-charting hit singles, including 14 from his surprise new mixtape Dark Lane Demo Tapes, which opens at No. 2 on the Billboard 200. The project’s complete tracklist finds its way to the all-genre list of the most-consumed songs in the U.S., and one of the acts featured on a track makes history thanks to one more appearance on the ranking.

Chris Brown joined Drake on the song “Not You Too,” which this week debuts at No. 25 on the Hot 100, instantly becoming another top 40 win for both superstars. The new cut is Brown’s one hundredth on the list, a milestone that only a handful of musicians have managed in the 60-plus-year-long history on the important tally.

With exactly 100 Hot 100 hits, Brown is now on the same level as Jay-Z, who recently also joined this very small (but growing) club of some of the most successful and prolific artists ever. The two hip-hop powerhouses are tied for the sixth-most placements.

Leading the pack in a very, very distant first place (and pushing further ahead all the time) is Drake, who has now sent 222 tracks onto the Hot 100 throughout his career. He adds to that total this frame, including his tune with Brown.

The only other act to land more than 200 Hot 100 placements is the cast of the TV show Glee, who managed 207 wins while they were together.

Further down the list of the artists who have scored the most Hot 100 hits is Lil Wayne, with 168, Elvis Presley and Nicki Minaj with 109 each (Minaj advances this frame as well, matching the rock pioneer’s record) and Kanye West, who has now appeared on the chart 107 times.

Next up to join the 100 Hot 100 hits group is probably Future, who also pads his career total this week with more than one new placement (thanks in part to Drake’s mixtape). The rapper now only requires two hits to reach triple digits. Taylor Swift is just one win behind him, but she isn’t known for churning out new cuts as quickly.

Brown first reached the Hot 100 in 2005 with "Run It!,” which served as an introduction to the public. That smash rose all the way to No. 1 on the chart, and it kicked off what has turned out to be a very successful career.
