Kevin Connolly on Love, Relationships, and the Entourage Hot Spot He Never Wants to Visit Again

Who remembers that final scene from He's Just Not That Into You when Kevin Connolly's character mouths to the camera (about costar Drew Barrymore), "I love her!"? If you're like me, it was one of your favorite moments from the otherwise uneven movie because 1) it felt like the most unscripted, real moment we had been waiting for and 2) because Connolly has never been cuter. Get ready to fall in love again because the Entourage actor is back on our TV screens starting tonight on CBS's Friends With Better Lives, a romantic (if sometimes lewd) comedy about six friends at different stages in their lives. Glamour: You're in the middle of filming the Entourage movie right now. What made you want to do another TV series? Kevin Connolly: There were a few opportunities to get back on TV, [but] you don't have a crystal ball, so sometimes [it's] hard to know what the right thing to do is. You don't want to miss out on something and feel like an idiot. It's a tricky thing, but this show has the legendary James Burrows directing, Dana Klein writing, and James Van Der Beek. Glamour: You play Bobby, a happily married

Glamour: You play Bobby, a happily married if sleep-deprived guy with a toddler on his hands. Just a tad different from "E" I would say!

Kevin: This is the first time I've played a dad! It's weird to be the oldest person in the cast. I'm almost 40! But it's exciting for me to play this role. [Yet in real life] I'm basically the only one not married.

Connolly's character on the sitcom is married to Abby, played by Majandra Delfino, the real-life wife of About a Boy's David Walton.

Glamour: Speaking of relationships, what's the one thing you'll never understand about them?

Kevin: How difficult they can be. [Laughs] How much work they take! You have to want to be in [one].

Glamour: What do you know for sure about love and relationships?

Kevin: That the real ones don't come around very often. When they do, you gotta make a serious run at it.

Glamour: I love your honesty on that. What's one thing you'll never understand about the opposite sex?

Kevin: Needing to plan everything so far ahead of time. [My girlfriend] will talk about Easter [three months ahead of time], so it amazes me how far she wants to plan ahead. I was [going out of town] to shoot the Entourage movie and coming back on a Saturday. And she's like, "Do you want to go to the movies on Sunday? What do you want to see?" and I'm like, "Um, do I have to decide now? [Laughs]" She already has it on her iPhone! I'm like, "Let's just wing it, and we'll figure it out when I get back in town Saturday. I'm sure the crowds have died down for Catching Fire by now." But she said she likes planning, so I'm like, "OK, if you like planning, I'm fine with it." She is open to spontaneity, but planning makes her happy she says.

Kevin Connolly shares a scene with Brooklyn Decker, who also stars on the CBS sitcom.

Glamour: That's hilarious. So what has your best friend taught you in life?

Kevin: That at the end of the day, it somehow manages to always be OK. No matter how bad things might seem at a time, it manages to be OK. I have some lifelong friends I grew up with.

Glamour: I have to close out with an Entourage question: The show filmed at every hot spot in Los Angeles, so what restaurant, club, or bar do you never want to visit again?

Kevin: Probably Urth Caffe! It's just weird for me to go there because I feel like I'm on walking onto a set or a soundstage. I just drive by and I get weird feelings in my stomach because I identify it with work. I always think, Wow, what a happy business owner! That place is packed! Even at night! Although maybe I should go at night. Maybe it will seem different to me then. [Laughs]
