OMG! New Rihanna album! Album of DNA, that is. The singer gave birth to her second child with boyfriend (husband?) A$AP Rocky, People confirms. The pair also share a 15-month-old son, RZA, born in May 2022.
TMZ first reported the news on August 21. Per the outlet, RiRi gave birth way back on August 3 to a healthy baby boy, whose name has not yet been disclosed. What we do know is that if his August 3 birthdate is correct, this little boy is a Leo.
Rihanna announced that she was pregnant again on the biggest stage possible, one accessible only to a star of her wattage: while performing at the Super Bowl Halftime show. In a red jumpsuit and breast plate, she showed off her baby bump, and while many viewers were cautiously and respectfully hesitant to speculate, her rep confirmed the news right after her performance.
In a British Vogue cover story, the billionaire Fenty Beauty founder also spoke about the other project she hopes to give the world in 2023: an album. Her last was 2016’s Anti, and fans have been clamoring for more. “I want it to be this year,” she told the magazine. “Like, honestly, it’d be ridiculous if it’s not this year. But I just want to have fun. I just want to make music and make videos.” Then again, the reporter noted that she said all this before she knew she was pregnant, so, priorities.
It was the 2012 VMAs, and they had literally just met.
She also revealed that the couple did not hire a nanny to take care of their son as a newborn. “We came home [from the hospital], cold turkey, had no one,” she said. “It was just us as parents and our baby. Man, you’re a zombie for the most part.”
As for birth, she reflected, “I cannot believe it. Essentially, from one person I became two…You walk into the hospital as a couple and leave as a family of three. It’s nuts. And oh, my gosh, those first days are insane. You don’t sleep. At all. Not even if you wanted to.”
