Will.i.am, front man of one of the most polarizing pop acts of the modern era, The Black Eyed Peas, loves to get dressed. In fact, he’s become sort of a punching bag for menswear pundits, who are quick ridicule his insane style, specifically his proclivities for asymmetrical droopy pants, and wild sunglasses. But hey, no one can say the dude isn’t committed to his look and isn’t afraid of taking risks. So it’s not a huge surprise that Mr.i.am has decided to launch his own line of eyewear, aptly named ill.i.optics, complete with the futuristic shapes and wonky proportions that define his own wardrobe. "I wanted to marry the retro feel with futurism, take yesterday’s sensibility with today’s aesthetic." he says of the collection. We can’t exactly see the retro in these frames, save some versions that look like they’re out of a bad ’80s sci-fi flick, but we’re not sure that counts. Anyway, if you’re interested, ill.i.optics is slated to arrive in select global retailers on September 16.
