Kevin Connolly is being penciled into the Pitch lineup.
The Entourage grad (and avid New York Yankees fan) has booked a recurring role on the Fox baseball drama, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Pitch — produced in partnership with Major League Baseball — centers on Ginny Baker (Kylie Bunbury), a young female pitcher who defies the odds when she becomes the first woman to play in the big league.
Connolly will appear in multiple episodes as Charlie Graham, the interim San Diego Padres president of operations. The former Silicon Valley executive is youthful, charming and inspiring. However, his offbeat warmth and enthusiasm belie a steely will and cutthroat bottom-line approach to the business of baseball.
The casting brings Connolly back into the Fox and 20th Television family. The actor most recently starred on CBS’ Friends With Better Lives, produced by Pitch studio 20th TV, and in a 2015 fantasy football pilot for the network. He also counts Fox’s early 1990s comedy Great Scott among his credits.
“I’ve had a great relationship with Fox over the years and am happy to be back,” Connolly said.
The actor, repped by UTA and 3 Arts, joins a roster of Pitch additions including Josh Peck, Wendie Malick, B.J. Britt and JoAnna Garcia Swisher, among others. The cast also includes Bob Balaban as owner Frank Reid and Mark Consuelos as the GM and president.
Pitch premieres Sept 22 on Fox.
