To answer my own mostly rhetorical question, because The 400 Blows would too easily take this.

Gonna go with Stolen Kisses, though, mostly because I love how it turns into a bumbling detective comedy about halfway through, and for Antoine fleeing the room after he accidentally calls his crush "sir."

I like 'em all, though, with the slight exception of Love on the Run, too much of which plays like a sitcom clip episode.

I like how Leaud plays Doinel in Stolen Kisses as a young fellow with a large capacity for self-amusement.

The distance between the Antoine from the first film and subsequent Doinels is so huge as to be frustrating sometimes.

I like the first two but that's about it.

Stolen Kisses is great, but I also loved Bed and Board. Alfred's comment from the Truffaut thread that 'every scene with Doinel's Japanese mistress is terrible' is wrong imo, those scenes are mesmerizing

I thought Antoine and Colette and Love On the Run were good but are not quite on the same level as the other three

The Antoine Doinel series was carried out over a 20 year period and presented an amazing look at a teenage boy and his maturation

Totally missed this when it went up.

I know I saw Stolen Kisses at some point; possibly Bed and Board, but less sure; the last one, no. The 400 Blows is one of my favourite films ever, so that's an easy vote. I'm sure I've mentioned this somewhere: I had a film professor, Bart Testa, who told us he adopted this gesture when he was younger--flipping his hair, maybe, or running his fingers through his hair--that was in honour of Léaud (specific to Antonine, I'm not sure).

obv the answer is The 400 Blows but Antoine et Colette is really good too. I quite liked them all though.
