TODAY'S CELEBRITY BIRTHDAY...EROS RAMAZZOTTI

Italian singer Eros Walter Luciano Ramazzotti was born 59 years ago in Rome, was married twice and has 3 children.

When he was 7 years old, Eros started playing the guitar and later on in his teenage years composed songs, aided by his dad.  In 1981, he participated in a music contest with the song ‘Rock 80’, and although he did not win, he made it to the final.

A year later, his first single was released but did not prove successful.  Then in 1984, he made a career breakthrough with the hit ‘Terra Promessa’ with which he won the prestigious San Remo Festival in the ‘Newcomers’ category.  The subsequent year, he once again participated in the yearly Festival with ‘Una Storia Importante’, placing 6th.

It was in 1986 that Eros finally managed to triumph in the festival with the number one hit ‘Adesso Tu’.  From then on, he never looked back and continued releasing albums and touring many European countries.  Some of his most popular hits include ‘Piu` bella Cosa’ dedicated to his ex-wife, ‘L’Aurora’ written for his daughter, ‘Cose della Vita’, ‘Se bastasse una Canzone’, ‘Un’emozione per Sempre’, ‘Ti Sposero` Perche`’, amongst many others.

Eros also released several songs which were sung in duet with famous artists like Tina Turner, Cher, Patsy Kensit, Anastacia, Luciano Pavarotti and Ricky Martin, to name a few.  Some of his albums were also released in the Spanish language, apart from his native Italian.

During his +40-year career, Eros had 19 albums and 37 singles.  He also received several awards including 4 World Music, 3 Wind Music, 3 Telegatto and 3 BMI Latin, amongst others.
