Amparanoia is the musical project of the Spaniard Amparo Sanchez. Her major early inspiration was Billie Holiday; Manu Chao, her friend and driving force, said upon hearing her: ‘As a child you swallowed a microphone, and because of this you have that voice streaming out!’. She was born in Granada in 1970. At 16 years of age Amparo had her first band, Correcaminos.
