While portraying her granny pant-wearing alter ego Bridget Jones, actress Renée Zellweger was certainly put through the mill in her often hilarious quest for love.
And, following a string of failed relationships with some of Hollywood’s most eligible bachelors, Renée herself has had quite the roller-coaster ride when it comes to dating.
But now, it seems the two-time Oscar winner has finally found her own Mark Darcy in British copper turned-TV presenter Ant Anstead. The couple are reportedly engaged and said to be planning a low-key, intimate wedding.
While the couple have not spoken about the engagement rumours themselves, a source has claimed Renée, 54, is head over heels for handsome Ant, 44, and is ready to embark on a new life together as husband and wife. If they do marry, she would also become stepmum to his three-year-old son, Hudson, from his most recent marriage to US TV host, Christina Hall, and Amelie, 19, and Archie, 16, from his first marriage.
“Everything will be very low-key,” the source claimed. “Her relationship with Ant is super strong and they’re madly in love. They can’t wait to get hitched.”
Fittingly, the story of her relationship with Ant could have come from the pages of a novel not too dissimilar to Bridget Jones’s Diary, including their first meeting, which Renée describes as “serendipitous”.
