Shakira's last months are not being as positive as she would like. After her separation with ex-footballer Gerard Pique, the Colombian artist moved to Miami with her children to start a new stage in her life. Her closest circle is being essential for her, but problems are piling up for the singer in a time of constant ups and downs.
After her 92-year-old father underwent surgery in the summer of 2022 following a fall that caused blood clots in his brain, it is now her mother who has health problems. Nidia Ripoll, Shakira's mother figure, was taken to hospital last week at the age of 73.

According to Telemundo, "she began to feel ill last Friday and went to her medical center to rule out major problems". Therefore, the artist has traveled to Barranquilla in her private plane to be by her mother's side, who has been diagnosed with thrombosis in her leg.
For now, the woman is responding positively to medical treatments and her recovery is progressively taking place. This is not the first time that Shakira's mother has suffered a mishap in recent months. In March of this year she had to go to her medical center in Barcelona for another thrombosis in her leg, although she also evolved positively and was able to leave the hospital a few days later.
