• Sylvester Stallone will reportedly reprise his role as John Rambo in Rambo V
  • The new film will begin production September 1, and will shoot in Bulgaria, London, and the Canary Islands
  • In Rambo V, the title character will discover a sex-trafficking ring in Mexico

Whatever possessed God in heaven to make a man like Rambo? That's a question you're going to have to ask Sylvester Stallone, who is reportedly set to return for a fifth time as the former Green Beret who for the life of him cannot retire peacefully without somehow eventually machine-gunning hundreds of people in the woods.

According to Screen Daily, Rambo V will shoot in Bulgaria, London, and the Canary Islands, and will begin production on September 1. The film — which arrives 36 years after John Rambo first mumble-murdered his way into America's hearts in First Blood — will follow the character on a "violent descent into hell" after he discovers a sex-trafficking ring in Mexico while searching for a friend's missing daughter. While not confirmed, history has taught us that the Mexican cartel will, assumedly, draw first blood.

Stallone has obviously changed his recent opinions on the franchise after balking at the idea of another Rambo in 2016.

“The heart’s willing, but the body says, ‘Stay home!’” the actor told Variety at the time. “It’s like fighters that go back for one last round and get clobbered. Leave it to someone else.”

Since then, a combination of otherworldly genetics and preparation for the Creed films has proven that , not just for more Rambo but a few casual 100-pound pullups in his spare time.

Still, the action star has his work cut out for him. Back in 1982 — the year he top-lined both First Blood and Rocky III — Stallone was practically killing himself to stay as shredded as humanly possible. His meals consisted mostly of cups of coffee and scoops of rice mixed with tuna, eventually bottoming out at 2.9% body fat. At his most ripped, Stallone had to stand on his head between Rocky III takes to get the blood back into his head.

"I may have looked pretty good on the outside but inside it was very dangerous thing to do," Stallone wrote of his routine.

This isn't a program we'd recommend, whether you're Sylvester Stallone or just, you know, a human being. Instead, to prepare for yet another go-around with John Rambo, we'd suggest trying out these Stallone-inspired workouts to help you get as fit as the man himself.
