SUMITON — Cole Rasbury and Max Hill hit home runs and Eli Cannon picked up the win on the mound as Corner defeated Sumiton Christian 6-1 at Blair Field on Thursday.
Rasbury put Corner on top with a two-run home run in the first inning and Hill added a three-run blast in the fourth inning for a 5-0 advantage.
Cannon went 5 1/3 innings, allowing one unearned run on three hits and two walks with six strikeouts. Sam Hill pitched 1 2/3 innings of hitless relief with two strikeouts.
Six different players had hits for Corner (9-3). Max Hill was 1 for 2 with two stolen bases and a three-run homer, Rasbury was 1 for 2 with a two-run homer, Brodie Dunlap and Jase Boyd were 1 for 4 with a run, Brendan Conner was 1 for 4 with a double and an RBI and Cannon was 1 for 3.
For Sumiton Christian, Justin Hicks was 1 for 3 with an RBI, Kaden Parrish was 1 for 3 with a double and a run and Austin Hubbard was 1 for 3. Hicks took the loss, allowing five earned runs on four hits and two walks with four strikeouts in four innings.
Carbon Hill broke open a close game with a four-run sixth inning on its way to a 7-2 home win over Dora on Thursday.
Logan Harper threw a complete game for Carbon Hill, earning the win. He allowed two earned runs on five hits and two walks with four strikeouts in seven innings.
At the plate, Dylan Tidwell led Carbon Hill (4-3), going 2 for 2 with a pair of doubles, a run and two RBIs, Harper was 2 for 3, Haigan Usrey was 1 for 4 with two runs and Samuel Aaron was 1 for 4 with a double, a run and an RBI.
For Dora (6-5), Cooper Martin was 2 for 3 with a run, Gage Hogland was 1 for 2 with an RBI, Cade Channell was 1 for 4 with an RBI. Carson Fowler got the loss, giving up two earned runs in four innings, striking out four.
Curry improved to 2-0 this week with a 7-2 road win over Good Hope on Thursday.
Chase Argent tossed a one hitter, allowing one earned run and striking out eight in seven innings.
Carson Dunagan led the offense, going 3 for 4 with an RBI and Eli Kennedy was 2 for 3 with a run.
The Yellow Jackets (3-5) play at Cold Springs on Monday.
Jasper 17, Cordova 2, six innings
Jasper used two big innings to beat Cordova 17-2 on the road on Thursday.
The Vikings scored six runs in the first and nine in the sixth.
Jasper, which snapped a five-game losing streak, had 17 hits in the game, led by Jarret Morrison, who was 3 for 5 with a triple, two runs and three RBIs. John Walker Wilson was 3 for 5 with a run while Avery Wade, John David Kimbrell and Ryan Mitchell each had two hits.
Grayson Blair got the win, allowing one earned run and striking out four in six innings.
For Cordova, Daniel Jackson was 3 for 3 and Brandon Graves was 2 for 2.
Oakman split home games on Thursday, beating Hanceville 12-2 and losing to Westminster-Oak Mountain 8-3.
Against Hanceville, Oakman had 14 hits led by Ledger Martin, who was 4 for 4 with a double, two runs and two RBIs, Brady Jones was 3 for 3 with two doubles and three runs and Hampton Hall was 2 for 3 with two runs and two RBIs. Jones got the win, striking out nine in six innings.
In the second game, Rick Johnson hit a three-run home run and Ledger Martin was 2 for 3 with a run. Weston Burton suffered the loss for Oakman (7-3), allowing four earned runs in three innings of relief.
