Indie-Rockers ‘Colour TV’ return with melodic sizzler “You Treat This Place Like A Hotel”

South-West five-piece Colour TV, return with the intricate indie sizzler “You Treat This Place Like A Hotel.” The first taste of their upcoming third EP, the track offers a look at the bands growth and they take on a more considered mature musical approach whilst retaining a fresh faced youthful flare.

The band has been on an incredible journey this summer, earning support from BBC Radio 6 Music and Radio X, delivering a thunderous performance at the Isle Of Wight Festival, and selling out live shows across the UK. Their music has caught the ears of tastemakers and critics alike, including Gigwise and This Feeling, which have only fueled their rapid ascent in the music industry.

Perhaps one of the most significant changes in the band’s evolution is the addition of a fifth member, bass player Chris Harwood. This addition has not only expanded the band’s sonic palette but has also modernised their sound, preparing them to reach new heights.

When discussing their fifth member and the new musical direction, the band shared, “Colour TV emerges from the dust cloud with a redefined sound in the manifest of ‘You Treat This Place Like A Hotel.’ The incorporation of a fifth member has forged a new and purposeful path with emphasis on plaintive lyricism and melodic interplay. We aspire to condense cinema to pop art form, to soundtrack the film of your life.”

Their latest single, “You Treat This Place Like A Hotel”, is a testament to their growth. The track showcases some of the band’s most mature and vibrant musicality to date, blending yearning lyrics with an intricate and atmospheric indie soundscape. Layers of reverb and delay-tinted guitars combine with driving bass and powerful drums to create an energetic and thought-provoking sonic backdrop.

The song’s melancholic and soaring vocals glide effortlessly above the soundscape, offering a pensive central hook that occasionally dips in and out of falsetto. As the track develops, it introduces an earworm chorus, with dappled glitches adding an experimental dimension to their music, which has consistently drawn praise in the past.

Speaking about the single, the band elaborated, “‘You Treat This Place Like A Hotel’ tells the story of a relationship that has frosted in the wake of communicative breakdown. The song is a hymn to anyone who has felt themselves a replacement, asking could we be stand-ins for the love of somebody else’s life. In the face of that attitude is the hope to be appreciated not for any proximate qualities, but for who we are – your New Nobody.”

With editorial support on Apple Music and a growing legion of fans, Colour TV is undoubtedly a band to keep a close eye on.
