Marion Cotillard is denying her involvement in co-star Brad Pitt’s split with Angelina Jolie in a big way.
The 40-year-old actress revealed she’s pregnant with her second child with longtime boyfriend Guillaume Canet after rumors swirled that she and Pitt were having an affair that led to his divorce with Angelina Jolie.
Cotillard, who stars alongside Pitt in the upcoming film “Allied,” posted a lengthy statement to Instagram, noting that the “crafted conversation” around her involvement is “distressing.”
“I am not used to commenting on things like this nor taking them seriously but as this situation is spiraling and affecting people I love, I have to speak up,” the French star wrote.
“Many years ago, I met the man of my life, father of our son and of the baby we are expecting. He is my love, my best friend, the only one that I need,” she continued.
After Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt on Tuesday, reports started surfacing claiming the actress hired a private investigator to follow her husband after learning he was cheating with Cotillard.
However, a source close to Jolie told the Daily News she does not actually believe the “Allied” co-stars were having an affair.
“The absolute truth is that there is no third-party involvement,” the source said. “No one has been hired at any stage. It’s absolutely not true and quite painful that anyone would believe it. They’re better people than that. They don’t spy on each other.”
Cotillard also noted in her statement that she’s not devastated.
“I am very well thank you,” she wrote.
The actress added, “I do very much wish that Angelina and Brad, both whom I deeply respect, will find peace in this very tumultuous moment. “
