In March, it was announced that the beloved teen Mexican telenovela, Rebelde, would be rebooted for Netflix in 2022. Despite running for just two years from 2004 to 2006, the hit musical drama culminated in a total of 440 episodes. As it followed the exploits of a group of students at a prestigious boarding school, the show also helped catapult the careers of six of its actors: Anahí, Dulce Maria, Maite Perroni, Alfonso Herrera, Christopher von Uckermann, and Christian Chávez.

Each would go on to be a part of the wildly successful Grammy-nominated band, RBD. The group released nine studio albums and became one of the most successful Latin bands of all time, before breaking up in 2009. Each member then pursued their own equally impressive careers. So, in light of the exciting news of Rebelde's return, we offer you updates on what the main cast members are doing now.

1

Anahí

In the years since she played Rebelde's Mia Colucci, Anahí has amassed more than 8 million Instagram followers and released two solo albums post-RBD's 2008 breakup. In 2015 she married the former governor of Chiapas, Mexico, Manuel Velasco Coello. They share two sons: Manuel, 4, and Emiliano, 1. The entire family contracted COVID-19 in 2020, but have since recovered.

In December Anahí, 38, was one of four original RBD members to reunite for a virtual concert four years after the group separated.

2

Dulce Maria

Following the end of Rebelde and RBD's split, Dulce Maria—who played the rebellious Roberta—focused on her solo acting and singing career. She appeared in a handful of telenovelas and films, including Verano de amor and Papis muy padres. The star released three studio albums and has another on the way, Nunca, out later this year.

Dulce Maria, 35, was one of two original RBD members who did not participate in the December 2020 reunion concert, as she'd welcomed a daughter weeks earlier with her director husband, Paco Álvarez.

3

Maite Perroni

While Perroni released one solo album post-RBD, Eclipse de Luna, she's largely focused on her acting career. In addition to roles on a number of successful telenovelas (Antes muerta que Lichita, Triunfo del Amor), in 2020 she starred in new series on four different streaming services, including Netflix's steamy thriller Dark Desires.

The star, who played the shy Lupita on Rebelde, has over 9 million followers on Instagram and joined RBD's reunion concert last year.

Alfonso Herrera

Herrera played Rebelde's Miguel, and has largely focused on acting since the show's end. You may recognize him from FOX's The Exorcist and Netflix's Sense8. His most recent film, Dance of the Forty One, is also available on the streaming service.

Herrera, who was the second member to not join the RBD reunion, shares two sons with his wife, Diana Vázquez.

5

Christopher von Uckermann

Throughout the series von Uckermann portrayed the rich and pretentious, Diego. In the years since, just like his bandmates, the star has continued to pursue his musical and acting career. The 34-year-old released an album, EP, and appeared in Kdabra, 2091, and El Hubiera Sí Existe.

6

Christian Chávez

The actor, who played class clown Giovanni, most recently starred in the third season of Netflix's La casa de las flores. Other projects include films En Las Buenas y En Las Malas and Like. Chávez also has two albums under his belt and one EP.

Last May, the 37-year-old had a messy public split with his partner Maico Michael Kemper. Kemper accused Chávez of domestic violence, which the actor denied.

Estefania Villareal

Making a return as the principal of Elite Way School, Villareal is the only actress from the original Rebelde who is reported to be returning to the show. Though not a part of RBD, in the years since the soap opera went off air, the 34-year-old has appeared in a handful of series including Camelia La Texana and Y mañana será otro día mejor. She's currently engaged to her boyfriend of 3 years, Gidi Schwartz.
