Grupo Niche and their infectious salsa sound arrived on the scene in the 1970s, and this 2008 CD compilation, 10 DE COLECCION, offers fans a mix of all the various styles on which the group built their sound: classic salsa hits (“Busca Por Dentro” and “Cali Pachanguero”), sweet Cuban son (“Mi Pueblo”). and the cumbia beat of their native Colombia (“La Canoa Ranchaa”). The selections in 10 DE COLECCION favor Grupo Niche’s later switch to love songs rather than the songs of social justice they originally performed, making the CD an accessible controversy-free listen for fans and newbies alike.
