This was a good night of music to benefit a charity that provides school supplies to refugees around the world. Nice idea.
Brothers Comatose played a fun set of bluegrass based . They are a much stronger band that when I first saw them a few years ago. I'm not as familiar with them to go into detail, but they played good acoustic music and were entertaining.
Before the Brothers went on, Sam Chase played an acoustic set. He was okay, but often talked extensively and lost the crowd who mainly conversed through the set.
Opening the night was a very rocking band called Highway Poets. These guys had a great 2 guitar bass and drum rock and roll vibe. This was in great contrast to Brother Comatose. I look forward to seeing and hearing more of these guys.
The Blue Note, Jam Cellars, Napa Opera House, whatever you want to call it this year is a great room with excellent sound. I wish that they could keep their beer stocked. Nothing good on draft last night. That is disappointing, especially when it's 100 degrees outside. But they sure do crank up the AC. On a hot day the ac in the Blue Note is the best in Napa.
The Thursday night show, the first of two back-to-back evenings of the Brothers Comatose's return to The Crepe Place, consisted of a mix of the Brothers' 3 albums. They didn't waste anytime in getting the crowd moving with the first cut off of their first album (Songs From the Stoop), Trippin' On Down. They kept the crowd dancing for about 1 hour and 45 minutes, when they ended with their encore, a cover of the Violent Femmes' Blister in the Sun. All in all, it was a great show, with a somewhat drunk fiddle player, Phillip Brezina, adding some comedic moments to the bands' presentation, while still playing expertly. The new album is mellower than the two previous releases, but that might just be because I am less familiar with it. Still, the Brothers put on a stellar concert last night and I look forward to seeing them again TONIGHT!!
They have quickly become my favorite band. High energy shows, excellent harmonies, face melting bass solos, string busting fiddle riffs, and so much more. It's refreshing to go see a performance where you know the musicians truly love what they do. That describes The Brothers Comatose to a T. Anytime they have a show near me I know I will definitely be there!
We had a fabulous night at our wonderful Bright Courthouse. The Bros Comatose are very accomplished musicians, with sweet vocal harmonies, playing good ol foot stompin, emotional and varied music. Their hilarious banter was well received and reciprocated by the appreciative audience. If you get the chance to see this band, DO!!!!
The only thing I ever want after a Brothers Comatose show is MORE BROTHERS COMATOSE!
Always such a fantastic performance, I never missed them when I lived in San Francisco, and to see them here in my new home was amazing. Love Levitt Pavilion!
AMAZING, AS ALWAYS!!!! The Bros. Como
are so fun to see live and the crowd loves them. They played all our favorite songs and their new ones are awesome. Come back to the beautiful Pacific NW soon!!
