Fuller House may be hitting Netflix on February 26 — Are you ready? We're so ready! — but one key character from the original sitcom won't be there. Well, two key characters, if you want to get precise: Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, who both played Michelle Tanner, a.k.a. Full House's baby of the family.

And while the show has already offered up an explanation as to why Michelle will be noticeably absent from the San Francisco clan, that doesn't mean her family isn't still talking about it. Uncle Jesse, we're looking at you.

John Stamos, who his reviving his role as a man with better hair than any man should ever have a right to (beyond like, Harry Styles) recently went on SirusXM radio and offered even more insight as to why MK&A decided to pass on the show. "They were very, very sweet. They seemed very into it. They just were afraid of acting," he said, adding that "they don't consider themselves actresses."

Sure, the Olsens have a crazy amount of movies to their names, with both feature films and straight-to-VHS productions under their Dualstar label, but they were thrust into the limelight as actual babies. It was the natural path. But they've since carved out two very successful fashion brands, so it's pretty safe to say that designing is their true calling.

But couldn't they have just found another actress who looked like the Olsens to reprise the role? Couldn't they have found another Olsen? It turns out the studio had floated the idea around, but John said that Elizabeth Olsen — yes, the twins' IRL sister — gave a hard pass on the opportunity. "We talked to her agent and her agent was like, ’Come on she’s not going to do that,’ but we did call her agent," he said.

Oh, well. Imagine what could have been. But the good news is that the rest of the crew will be back to help D.J. Fuller raise her sons — and the Olsen sisters will still be designing awesome clothes and accessories. Now that's a win-win situation.
