The boys were not back in town last week, after the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame failed to induct Thin Lizzy into its ranks, writes Pavel Barter.

The Irish band were among 16 acts nominated for inclusion in the annual event in Ohio, set up in 1983 to recognise artists who helped shape the history of rock music.

Thin Lizzy fans have questioned why the Hall of Fame has snubbed the band in favour of non-rock artists such as Whitney Houston and the Notorious BIG. “The title Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is probably wrong,” said Smiley Bolger, an Irish promoter, DJ and friend of Phil Lynott, the late Thin Lizzy frontman. “It should be renamed.”
