For all the prim and proper glamour at the annual Cannes Film Festival, there are always a few fashion and beauty wild cards. Who could forget rebel Kristen Stewart's barefoot walk up the red carpet last May, or Susan Sarandon's epic age-defying leg moment alongside a pair of sunnies? While there are no official guidelines that ban attendees from baring their midriffs, it’s rarely seen at Cannes, and leave it to French actress Marion Cotillard to show off her abs with serious confidence and grace.
It was actually Cotillard’s second cropped top of Cannes; last night she wore a two-piece Chanel ensemble. But today, for the screening of Matthias Et Maxime, the Francophile slipped on a pair of of black shorts, a crop top, and oversized Balmain denim overcoat that left her toned midsection exposed. Slicked center-parted lengths perfectly framed Cotillard’s smoldering smoky eyes, even as her abs commanded most of the attention. Head held high with that certain je ne sais quoi, Cotillard may be going against the grain for Cannes, but she's definitely winning in our book.
