Bardot is the name of the new mini-series inspired by the life of Brigitte Bardot, that is currently on our radar. This new project is directed by the mother-son duo Danièle and Christopher Thompson and produced by France Télévision. It promises to be a fascinating dive into the '50s, in the early days of the actress who attracted countless admirers before becoming the eternal icon of Jean-Luc Godard's Contempt.

What will the Bardot series be about?

Over the course of six 52-minute episodes, the biopic series traces the rise of Brigitte Bardot in post-war France between 1949 and 1959. We follow along from her 15th to her 25th birthday, learning about her rigorous education and yearning for freedom, her dream of becoming a dancer, and her marriage to her first love Roger Vadim. We will also gain insight into her legendary performance in And God Created Woman and her casting with Henri Georges Clouzot for the film The Truth ( you can see a few moments of this meeting in an excerpt published by France Télévision) and find out how the young woman became "BB" forever. The show will also reveal how she stirred up so much hatred as well as adoration in the course of her life.

Who is in the cast?

Julia de Nunez, who studied at the École Périmony in Paris (a drama school that has seen the likes of Fanny Ardant, Camille Cottin and François Cluzet), will play Brigitte Bardot. At 20 years old, the actress is still relatively unknown to the general public but will be making her debut on the screen with this role. To play Roger Vadim, France Télévision studios chose Victor Belmondo, grandson of Jean-Paul Belmondo. Géraldine Pailhas and Hippolyte Girardot will play Brigitte's parents, Anne-Marie and Louis Bardot. Yvan Attal, Anne Le Ny, Louis-Do de Lencquesaing, Laurent Stocker of the Comédie Française, Oscar Lesage, and Noham Edje will play the producer Raoul Levy, the star agent Olga Horstig, the director Henri-Georges Clouzot, the journalist and TV producer Pierre Lazareff and the actors (and Brigitte Bardot's lover) Jacques Charrier and Jean-Louis Trintignant respectively. Fabian Wolfrom and Mikaël Mittelstadt will star as legendary French singers Sacha Distel and Gilbert Bécaud.
