LEGO Is Dropping a 43-Inch, 4,784-Piece 'Star Wars' Imperial Star Destroyer Set

Although the holiday season is still a few months away, the creatives over at LEGO are gearing up to release a massive 4,784-piece Imperial Star Destroyer set. The kit is part of LEGO and Star Wars‘ ongoing collaborative effort, which is enjoying its 20th anniversary this year.
Sizing in at 43 inches long, 26 inches wide, and 17 inches high (with the display stand), this gigantic piece is modeled off of the same Imperial Star Destroyer — aka “The Devastator” — which was first seen in Star Wars: A New Hope. Along with being the largest ship set from the Galactic Empire in LEGO’s impressive arsenal, it lands as the third ever largest Star Wars set to be produced by the building block purveyor.
The miniature Imperial Star Destroyer also features swiveling guns, a movable radar dish, hinged engine exhausts, two blaster pistol weapons, two Imperial crew member minifigures, a display stand with an informational plaque, and a build-able, attachable Rebels’ Tantive IV starship. The 7 kilo model will take an estimate of 20 hours to build and includes 1,015 stages of construction.
Interested fans will be able to purchase the LEGO Imperial Star Destroyer set in-stores and online starting October 1 for a retail price of $700 USD. LEGO VIP members will be able to purchase it a few weeks earlier on September 18.
