Hales Gallery have been working with New York based artist Spencer Tunick for the last 10 years. His large-scale participatory performances involving thousands of naked bodies are well known around the world. His work combines sculpture, performance and land art that consistently features skillfully posed nudes juxtaposed in urban and natural environments. This show at Hales Gallery focuses on his works which operate against the backdrop of architectural forms, integrating the massed soft forms with the harder angular elements of the various buildings he chooses to appropriate. Tunick was born in Middletown, New York in 1969, and lives and works in Brooklyn. Spencer Tunick has exhibited widely. His temporary site-specific installations have taken place around the globe in cities including Montreal, Melbourne, Lyon, Santiago, New York, Mexico City and Barcelona to name a few.
